Examinations
Since 1994, Thomas Concrete Group AB, Färdig Betong's parent company, has had an accredited laboratory: C.lab. C.lab is accredited by Swedac to perform approximately thirty standardized examinations (examinations according to SS, SS-EN and FAS). The last few years the European norm has been implemented in the laboratory's activity. Every year, C.lab performs approximately 2000 assignments, where the most common ones are to determine:

· The concrete's sustainability and frost resistance
· Ballast-examination with grain-size division, condensation and water-absorption
· High quality measurement of the concrete, its conjunction-time and false setting

Educational programme
Apart from its research, C.lab is also running the R&D and educational programme. R&D is mainly focusing on the product development of concrete with the purpose to strengthen its processing value and the on-sight construction. C.lab itself is partly running the R&D division, often in collaboration with an external client, partly in cooperation with Chalmers Technical University in the form of doctoral student projects. Ongoing projects at the moment are:  

· A new concept for increased rock material usage – usage of lake sand
· Testing-methods for SCC. Nordic project with the purpose to prepare common testing-methods for SCC (Nordtest-method)

The educational program is given yearly, among other things, the Concrete course class II – ready-mix concrete. The course is following the educational plan in the Swedish
Concrete-associations report number 8 from year 2000. The Swedish Ready-mix Concrete Association sanctions the course and is directed to all who are interested in improving their knowledge within the ready-mix concrete production and will get at least one year’s practical experience within the area.

Other areas that the education gives are self-compacting concrete, damp-dimensioned concrete (including construction damp and dehydration) and base- and further information within concrete technology.
